This useful booklet is available in exchange for an email sign up. It’s genuine, useful information, even if you don’t use the company it promotes – a good guideline for all ‘bait pieces’.
How to spot a rogue trader: Your essential guide to hiring reputable contractors for your driveway.
A new driveway is an investment, not something you buy every day. You’ll want to hire a company that will get the job done well, be easy to deal with during the process, and who will answer all your concerns – even after the job is completed.
Here’s how to make sure you choose a company that’s going to get the job done properly.
- Check out the contractor first.
Before you contact a driveway company do some background research. Your first port of call should be online review sites: Which?, Trustatrader and Checkatrade all have a feedback system where clients can rate their contractors and make comments on their experiences.
A reputable company will have a positive presence on these sites, with plenty of recent, positive reviews.
Warning: Signs of a rogue trader are no listings on any of these sites. Contractors have to pay to get their name listed, so only businesses who are serious about their practice will sign up. Some sites, such as Which?, are difficult to get onto as their criteria for inclusion is so high. Of course, if a company is likely to get a lot of bad reviews and customer complaints, then they will positively avoid sites like these.
