WTF? Explaining basic terms.

Explaining technical terms

For a reader to really understand what your software or widget will do for them, you have to introduce some basic terms. Here’s an example:

What is RAM?

More than just an acronym, RAM is a methodology used to assess the performance of a facility under the terms Reliability, Availability and Maintenance. Using highly advanced modelling software, a virtual model of your system can be created. Your processes can then be analysed under every conceivable input condition to determine their robustness. Weaknesses in the system can be identified and steps can be taken to ensure that these problems do not occur in the ‘real world’.

A comprehensive RAM analysis for upstream facilities include:

  • Reliability Analysis
  • Maintainability Analysis
  • Historical Data Analysis
  • Reliability Data Collection
  • System modelling using MAROS
  • Maintenance workload planning
